deer nibble my dream

A herd of deer nibble my dream: a rustic cabin in the trees at the edge of a muskeg marsh. Six or seven of them stand all night in the rain, browsing the budding alders that stick up through patches of melting snow. Inside, under a tin roof, there’s a naked couple on a bed searching for each other among the rhythms of water and warm wind. Their torsos arch and twist and stretch, and when their excitement rises you know they will find their animal bodies, that the hot blood in their temples is pounding them limb on limb.
